Do you ever get that one horse that you are excited about but not like over the moon, then it arrives, you gasp as you unwrap it and everything changes? This mare right here was one of those horses.
Meet Prairie Rose. She is sculpted by Rachel Lane of Hold Your Horses and painted by Devin Inbody. She is solid cast 3D printed and is Pebbles Size. I have a new fav scale, ya'll! Is she not perfect?! A tad larger than Venti, but a bit smaller than Classic, and I absolutely love it! Devin and I started talking months back when my eye got a Blue Roan Prairie Rose that she painted. Unfortunately I missed out on her sale. Few weeks later I caught sight of the horse again, this time at a show, and this time it was winning the overall Resin Champion! (much deserved, might I add) I contacted Devin asking if she would commission my stablemate scale Prairie Rose. She said yes and off he went to her. I was beginning to really love her work. We chose a rich bay for the horse and Devin added that she thought some white socks and striped hooves would be a perfect touch. She sent me photos all throughout the process and made it really fun. She asked me constantly if I was happy with how he was turning out. We made small adjustments here and there as she went. Right within her estimated timeframe, the pony arrived home and joined my show string. The horse has gorgeous detail and has been showing very well!
Now back to the main show stealer here. After the bay, Devin offered one of her Pebble scale ponies up for commission to me. I was excited. But it wasn't that "oh my gosh I cannot wait for this horse" excitement. It was just the normal excitement of getting a new resin (resin and OOAK collectors know exactly what I am talking about!). Once again, Devin communicated just incredibly. She sent me progress photos and we made small changes along the way. Right as she was about to be done, I asked about the blueness of her eyes and possibly reflecting issues since I photo show often. Devin knew EXACTLY what changes to make, tweaked the eye color to perfection, and I gave the go ahead to seal her! After giving several days for her to seal and dry properly, Devin invoiced me and Prairie was on her way home! Middle of this week she arrived. The box was larger than I was expecting. I began unwrapping the horse and instantly began getting excited. Her size, the matte paint finish, and the details were absolutely outstanding. Now we all know the top names in the hobby - Nikki Button, Mindy Berg, Holly Conner, and many others - and we battle and bid like crazy for their sale pieces! Which, don't get me wrong, is well deserved by these talented artists! But sometimes I think we forget to look a bit deeper and really study some other not so big names and their talent. Devin Inbody is one of those artists. As many of you know, I am a photographer, collector and have a name in the show circle. I am by no means a paint or sculpt artist - trust me, none of us want to see that! So as a way use my quickly growing platform for more than just photography, I want to show support to other artists in the hobby. I plan to highlight artists occasionally on my blog and on my social platforms. Sometimes these will be sculpting artists, sometimes paint artists, or even tack and prop makers. I buy and sell a lot and always have horses out with artists for commissions. I am excited to help promote and show off each of your work on a different level!
So this month, shout out and bragging bits go to the lovely Devin Inbody! Seriously, guys, she is talented. The consistency of her paint finish, the details in the eyes, the muzzle, the coat. And where do I even start on the legs and hooves. She is not one of the "big names" but seriously she should be and her work is right up there with the best! I cannot get over her paint work. This is the horse where I went from semi excited to absolute jaw dropping. If you have a horse needing some clothes, contact Devin. You won't regret your decision!! Communication, skills, shipping and her pricing is absolutely top notch!!! Thank you, Devin, for this stupendous never-sell addition to my show string! Devin can be found on social media by her name Devin Inbody and IG handle inbodydevin. Enjoy some eye candy from her below! Both horses are in my show string and are not for sale.
